Throughout the year, Disney Plus releases original movies and shows. Some critics believe that this year Disney Plus will further find its way into the hearts of many, with the huge numbers of shows, mini-series, and movies that are going to be released on Disney Plus. Students at Marriotts Ridge are thrilled about these upcoming shows.
One of these recently released shows is the Hawkeye series. It follows the story of the fabled Marvel Cinematic Universe character Hawkeye, portrayed by Jeremy Renner, after the events of the Marvel Avengers Finale, “Endgame.” The show ran six episodes and received a ton of excitement from superhero fans.
“I think that it was a really good series, and I think that it could build a large empire for Marvel,” freshman Arha Deshpande said.
Some people are positive about the show because it connects back to Marvel’s other works.
“I thought that it was really good. It really connects back to the comic books, like how Hawkeye now has a hearing aid. I thought that it was really good at connecting back to the comics,” sophomore Casey Hawk said.
Students were thrilled with the cast of the new show, happy to see both old and new characters.
“I think that one of the pros of the series is that they brought unique actors such as Hailee Steinfeld, who is a singer,” Deshpande said.
Students commented on the fact that Hawkeye is not their favorite hero as his powers are much weaker when compared to the other mighty Avengers in the Marvel series.
“I think that it was a great show, but not a lot of people are going to assume that Hawkeye is a superhero because he just shoots arrows, and it might not be appealing to most people, but I think that it’s appealing to me,” junior Garrett Weibking said.
Another Marvel character getting his own show is Nick Fury, played by Samuel L. Jackson. He is going to star in the new show “Secret Invasion” Fury is the leader and director of S.H.I.E.L.D (Strategic Homeland Intervention, Engagement, and Logistics Division) and one of Marvel’s first main characters. The show is set to come out in 2022. Disney started its production in 2019, and since then, people have been excited about it.
“I am not really sure because I heard that it was really good, but I want to see for myself and see if it is good enough for me,” freshman Arkins Jules said.
Another upcoming mini-series is the Obi-Wan Kenobi show, starring Ewan McGregor and Hayden Christensen. Obi-Wan Kenobi is an upcoming American limited series coming to Disney Plus this year. This series is set ten years after the events of the third installment of the “Skywalker Saga”, The Revenge of the Sith. Star Wars fans are very excited about this show as it contains a lot of nostalgic characters and storylines.
“I think that this series is going to be very interesting. I am very excited about this show. I hope that it is good because I am going to watch it,” freshman Ayaan Khan said.
Fans of the series are hyped for the return of these two icons since these two were the main protagonists in the other Star Wars shows.
Disney Plus has been excelling in means of making and producing series and shows. Students at Marriotts Ridge are very compelled to these shows, and are waiting for these shows to come to Disney Plus.
