As upperclassmen begin to contemplate their futures, discovering the perfect fit for one’s college journey can be quite the challenge. Fortunately, Marriotts Ridge High School has evolved into a center of opportunity, with numerous college advisors from various institutions visiting the school regularly to provide a distinctive chance for students to explore their future paths. The undeniable advantages of these college visit sessions are paving the way for students to explore new horizons.
The opportunity to interact with college advisors from various schools can also be instrumental in helping students make well-informed decisions. This is a chance to see the array of options available, whether it’s large universities, small liberal arts colleges or specialized institutions. This diversity broadens students’ horizons and allows them to consider colleges they might not have initially thought of. This encourages them to think critically about their own goals and aspirations, helping them align their college choices more closely with their future plans.
“I was given the chance to ask very specific questions I had, rather than trying to look them up online where the answers are more general,” senior Samantha Rigg explained.
One of the primary advantages of these college visits is the ease for students to access information about different institutions. Instead of relying solely on the internet or word of mouth, students can engage directly with representatives from various colleges, gaining insights that go beyond mere statistics and brochures. These advisors are able to share all their knowledge about their respective schools, answering questions about programs, campus life, financial aid and much more.
“I feel like going to the actual campus is much more helpful but this way everyone is given a chance to learn about the college,” senior Shrinidhi Gokulakrishna said.
In addition to the multitude of advantages that college advisors bring to our school, these in-school visits serve as a beacon of hope for those students who may not have the opportunity to visit the colleges of their dreams in person. Not all students have the means or time to travel to campuses scattered across the country, making these college visits within our school walls all the more valuable. The chance to experience the atmosphere and ask questions directly to representatives from various colleges brings a piece of the college experience to those who might otherwise have missed out. It ensures that every student, regardless of their circumstances, can explore their college options fully and make the most informed choices for their future.
“It’s honestly a great opportunity to talk to someone who might see your application and an easy way to find out things about the school,” senior Abhinav Kota shared.
These college visits serve as fantastic networking opportunities. Meeting advisors from multiple colleges can help students build relationships that may prove invaluable during the application process. These advisors often provide information on the application and selection process, helping students tailor their applications effectively. Establishing these connections early can give students a leg up in a highly competitive college admissions environment.
Regular visits of college advisors to our school offer an unparalleled opportunity for students to explore a wide range of higher education possibilities. These sessions provide valuable information, create a college-like atmosphere and help students make informed decisions about their future. They also serve as networking opportunities that can assist students throughout the application process. Most importantly, they demonstrate the dedication of colleges to upperclassmens’ success. These visits are more than small meetings, they are gateways to a world of possibilities.
