The iPhone 15 released on September 22nd, 2023, with high praise and great reviews from consumers and tech enthusiasts around the world. Others have grown irritated with the new iPhone and have some grievances against it.
One of the iPhone 15’s flagship features is its improved battery life. Based on tests and trials, the battery can withstand up to 20 hours on the regular models, and 29 on the pro models. Many critics praise Apple for making such a monumental improvement to their iPhones.
“I think the iPhone 15’s battery life is good. It’s better than the battery life of my old iPhone, and it also lasts in the long run,” junior Davi Bastos said.
Others do not feel so positive about the new iPhone’s battery life as they have experienced a downgrade to battery life on the new iPhone, contrary to Apple’s claims.
“The batteries of the iPhone 15 models are messed up this year. It’s not good. I use the battery daily. The iPhone 14’s battery, which was the model last year, has way better battery life than the iPhone 15 this year,” sophomore Rohan Koshy said.
One of the major changes to the iPhone is its new USB-C type charging port. Instead of the regular lightning based charging ports Apple has used with its flagship phones for many years, the iPhone 15 models now sport a USB-C type port. Many people praise Apple for this significant change.
“It has advantages on a global scale. It has a huge impact on the planet because it cuts down on planet waste because people have to buy a new charger for the iPhone, but now they can use the charger they have at home because almost everyone has a USB-C charger,” junior Yuvan Jaganathan said.
Others describe this change as worthless and not necessary as Apple has been using the lightning based charging port for years now, and users find it frustrating to switch up to USB-C.
“I think the lightning charger is better than the new one they have now,” sophomore Rafiya Channu said.
On the Internet and on various online discussion forums, there have been reports of the iPhone 15 models bend when users put the phone in their pockets. Once the users have taken out the iPhone, the user’s iPhones have significant damage.
“I think Apple really messed up on this one because usually iPhones are strong and not flexible.” junior AJ Joshy said.
Others, on the other hand, believe this is nothing but a hoax, some kind of internet rumor spreading online, and they don’t take any heed to this. They believe this is at the fault of the user for not being able to take care of their phone properly.
“You have to be the worst person in the world if you let your phone bend like that. Like you have to handle your phone with care and be careful with it,” senior Yash Santhosh said.
With the release of the iPhone 15, comes their new 48 megapixel camera. On the base and pro models, the iPhone can take 48-megapixel (wide), 12-megapixel (ultrawide) photos, with 12-megapixel telephoto (3x optical) on the Pro models. Both of these iPhone models can each take 4k HD resolution videos with its A16 and A17 Bionic Chips respectively.
“I think for the price ($799), the phone’s camera resolution is good. It also takes good pictures from what I know,” senior Henry Merkel said.
Others think the new iPhone’s camera is a waste of money, as it would be intended for professional pictures, not for day-to-day selfie picture taking.
“I don’t think anyone will buy the new iPhone just to take professional pictures. They might buy it for other features, but not just for the camera,” junior Carlos Riberas said.
Another new feature that the iPhone 15 lineup sports is improved storage capacity. Along with the standard 128 and 256 gigabytes of storage data, the iPhone now supports 512 and 1TB of storage data on the iPhone. Many people call this a monumental and significant improvement for the betterment of the iPhone.
“That’s good too, it helps me with more storage and helps me store more of my photos,” senior Ishan Mehta said.
All in all, the iPhone 15 lineup is a great flagship lineup of products and has received praise and admiration from many users. Despite its setbacks and flaws, the popularity of the iPhone 15 seems to be skyrocketing daily, reaching a 100 percent increase in day one sales compared to its predecessor, the iPhone 14. Because of this, the iPhone 15 has better days ahead of itself.
