There are a variety of barbershops in the Ellicott City area that people have come to know and love. Many students are loyal to their barbers because of the customer service, haircut quality and relationships that are built. Some barber shops are beginning to flourish, due to the positive recommendations of students.
Clients who go to Floyd’s value that the haircuts always meet their expectations. Floyd’s is down on 40, by Qdoba. The students also mention the barber’s capability to hold a conversation is a big reason why Floyds is popular. Many students choose Floyd’s for the exceptional cost, typical haircut and amazing customer service.
“I’ve always gone to Floyd’s because I trust that I will get a satisfactory haircut. I feel like the quality of the haircut matches the cost, which is good enough for me,” commented senior Barry Romero.
The key to Floyd’s success is the way they are able to keep their clients engaged by asking about school, sports and friends.
“I can always count on quality conversations when I get my haircut at Floyd’s. I often find myself talking to my barber about school, sports and life in general. Having a barber I enjoy talking to makes the experience far more enjoyable and relaxing,” stated junior Luke Holland.
One of the best attributes of a barber is the ability to follow particular instructions. Many students believe Rob’s Barber Shop is the place to go for top-tier haircuts and great customer service.
Another top barbershop is Rob’s, many students love it because of the great customer service and the amazing cuts they provide. You can find Rob Barber’s shop across the street from Mcdonalds on 40.
“I will go to Rob’s Barber Shop as long as John Whittaker works there. Not only does he give me the exact haircut I ask for, but we also have very good conversations. I’ve never had a barber that I can relate to as much as I can with John,” said senior Jackson Komin.
On the other hand, Helen’s Barber Shop has many of mixed-responses. When clients hear about poor results it spreads, and they begin to lose trust in their barber’s abilities. The location for Helen’s is found in the GoPrimos strip mall.
“I used to go to Helen’s Barber Shop until my brother got his haircut clapped by his barber. I was always satisfied with my haircuts, but for the sake of my brother I changed barbers with him,” stated senior Yeale Biruk. Clapped means a bad haircut that does not meet satisfaction.
Another factor in where students get their haircut is customer loyalty and trust. Some students feel obligated to stay with their barber even if they are not satisfied with their haircut. The haircuts are always good enough for the price that is being paid. Students find SportsClips in turf valley, near Harris Teeter.
“Sports Clips is cheap, so they keep me coming back, but I’m usually disappointed when I leave. Another reason I stay loyal is because me and my barber have a long-standing bond, but after each haircut, I consider finding a new barber,” added junior Keith Lee Green.
A quality haircut is overlooked by many, but it can make a big difference for self-confidence. Many students have strong feelings about who gives the best haircuts and have differing opinions on what the most important trait is in a barber.
