In the school cafeteria of Marriotts Ridge, a culinary debate is forming as students passionately discuss their favorite school lunches. Whether it comes to nostalgic favorites or personal likings, students have many differing opinions on school lunch.
“My favorite school lunch is definitely the mozzarella sticks. It goes well with the marinara sauce, and I like how the cheese melts in your mouth,” sophomore Ruhhe Birruk stated.
Three foods have become the clear favorites among students’ tastes at the center of the school lunch controversy. The top rank goes to mozzarella sticks, which are praised for their flawless combination with marinara sauce and the mouthwatering melting cheese experience that makes each bite especially favorable. In second place is the cheese quesadillas, which is another item that has the support of the lunchroom community. The combination of warm tortillas, gooey cheese and rich sauce produces a flavorful symphony that is pleasant to even the pickiest eaters. The classic twisted breadsticks take center stage as well in third place. These top three choices serve as the best school lunch experiences as Mustangs share their culinary preferences.
“Something I have everyday from the school cafeteria would be snacks, like chocolate cookies. I also enjoy the occasional treats, like when the school served hot chocolate for the holidays. I also enjoyed when the school gave us Rita’s since it was a really hot day,” senior Hamza Adawy expressed.
Students have particular appreciation for the delectable school snacks, like the Cinniminnis and even the various flavors of Switch. Mustangs exceptionally adore when the school serves festive snacks for certain holidays or as a special treat. These snacks become moments of delight that provide a little break from stressful academics. Students highly appreciate the wide range of school snacks that provide a sense of comfort. The addition of holiday goodies enhances the experience and creates a party atmosphere inside the lunchroom. These decadent moments not only satisfy mouths but also add to the lively and cheerful school climate.
“One thing that’s good about the school lunch is that it’s healthy, which is good for me because it gives me energy for sports after a long tiring day of school,” freshmen Fathiya Ahamed reasoned.
These nutritional and balanced meals help students meet their nutritional guidelines and supply them with energy for the rest of the day. Not only are the main lunches kept healthy, but the school also provides students with various side options, like vegetables and fruits. Many students take advantage of the numerous options by combining the sides, like adding cheese and beans to the salad. By providing nourishing options, school lunches help students make healthier food choices, have enough energy, be physically prepared for sports and enjoy their lunch.
Contradicting the good reviews, many students agree that the food options available at school cafeterias are frequently disappointing. Even though nutritional values are important, many students look for more flavors for a better taste. Adding a range of spices and seasonings could change the experience, improving school lunches and even encouraging excitement with more options. After all, a little flavor goes a long way.
“The food sometimes tastes bland and there isn’t that much flavor. I wish the fries were seasoned, it would taste better,” sophomore Sid Raghunath expresses.
The debate over school lunches demonstrates a significant influence on students and creates a wide range of viewpoints. There are a variety of elements that influence students preferences for lunches, including flavor, nutritional values and cultural influences. It is clear that school lunches are an important part of a student’s everyday lives. With a plethora of main dishes and various sides, students can consider every factor when deciding what to eat for the day.
