As spring break approaches in the coming weeks at the end of March, many Marriotts Ridge High School students are struggling to push through the last few days until break. The time between winter and spring break is always a gap that is tough on students.
Many students feel unmotivated, distracted and unexcited, with the every day feeling as if it is on repeat. Others feel a need to work hard in the few weeks before spring break so they are able to leave their work behind and enjoy the break before the stress of AP exams.
“I am really going to lock in for the classes that I feel are very difficult in these next few weeks so I can have a good spring break and start preparing for my AP tests,” junior Trijal Reddy Pinninti explained.
Some students can’t help but daydream about the trips they are taking during break, making it hard to concentrate these last few weeks.
“I am really looking forward to spring break as I am going to California for my cousin’s wedding but the workload is not letting up so I have to power through,” sophomore Aditi Yegnasubramanian said.
Many students utilize the time over break to prepare for their AP tests with some even going on to start studying for finals. Other students use the time as a way to get ahead in classes they might struggle in. This time over break is crucial to many, giving some a break amidst their crazy schedule and others time to prepare for exams.
“I plan to use spring break as a break from school and use the time to spend more time with my friends and family,” junior Rory Taylor stated.
Many students plan on using this free time during break to enjoy the outdoors. With spring starting on March 20th, three days before break, many students are planning on enjoying the warm weather that comes with the spring season with activities such as: bike riding, skateboarding, running and hiking.
“I will be going on outdoor college visits, all the schools I am going to visit are all in places with nice weather so I am very excited,” junior Natasha Randhawa described.
In the time outside of the many Marriotts Ridge students planning on traveling, spending time outdoors and studying, students also plan on catching up on their sleep. With many students’ sleep schedules being disrupted during the school year, breaks are a time that many students utilize to catch up on their sleep.
“I plan to catch up on sleep during spring break and sleep in about two hours. During school my sleep schedule has gotten messed up,” junior Chelsea Asiedu said.
Spring break is an essential time for many to catch up on activities that they might not find time to do upon their busy schedules. Spring break can be both relaxing as well as hectic for students depending on how they decide to utilize their time, but regardless is a much needed sense of relief for students.
