The Marriotts Ridge bathroom epidemic has become a major issue in the school once more. Students fuel the issue in their protests of basic cleanliness, stuffing paper towels into the toilets and flooding the floors with water. The school’s attempts of fixing this issue, in the student’s eyes’, have been minimal and clearly unsuccessful. In the past, students have enjoyed open and clean bathrooms, but in recent years this is no longer the case. The school now takes action.
After a series of meetings throughout the entire school year, Marriott Ridge’s janitorial team has been granted the means to what they believed is the solution to halving their workload. Plan Port-The-Potty-Mess-Outside has been passed by school staff. This plan includes the transition from inshool bathroom facilities to outside porta potty lineups by the student parking lot.
Last week, the beginning of this plan was put into action with the purchase of the school’s first three porta potties. These three have been used as testing grounds for the proper steps to launch this plan into full throttle. The school’s faculty has made several amendments to their plan after their two day long experiment.
The school began by mandating the use of these “skunk stalls,” as called by senior Jack VanTine, for all Health classes. To the school’s delight, only one incident has occurred thus far.
“I was in the porta potty during fifth period and got a massive surprise! During my activities, gravity turned sideways after I heard a thump against the wall which was followed by an immediate flash flood. My world turned sideways,” reported sophomore Oliver Musters.
This incident prompted the school to bolt down the porta potties to ensure they will not fall over. Except for this incident, the school’s bathroom relocation was deemed a success and twelve additional porta potties were purchased for student use. The change is expected to be enforced by Monday, April 8th for the entire school.
However, in less than a day of the school’s decision, the indoor bathrooms have seemingly been cleaning themselves. The graffiti in the bathroom stalls have been scrubbed, the toilets polished and the sinks shined, leaving the school’s janitors stunned.
But the school has not shown any sign of going back on their decision to install the line of porta potties. If this will be a permanent change or a decision that will only last to the end of the year is uncertain, but will most likely be confirmed by May 1st. School staff will be closely monitoring the quality of the porta potties and will take the bathrooms’ state into account when making this decision. If the students can not keep the porta potties clean, the chance of returning to indoor plumbing is slim.
