As the end of the school year approaches, MRHS students are eagerly awaiting their summer plans but also reflecting on the defining moments throughout this school year. This year has been filled with numerous events, achievements and personal growth, with students sharing their most memorable moments.
Events such as the Fall Pep Rally and Homecoming started the school year off strong, causing it to remain a favorite memory for many students this year.
“I loved matching outfits and coordinating them with my friends during the spirit week leading up to Homecoming. Getting ready with my friends before the dance was also a very memorable and fun experience,” said sophomore Adithi Akella.
Students reflected on these memorable moments as they participated in games at the Pep Rally or danced all night with their friends at the Homecoming dance.
“Having fun with friends at homecoming was definitely a favorite. Then afterward we had a whole feast at McDonald’s,” shared sophomore Esther Kim.
Other students shared how the Spring Spirit Week and pep rally were more eventful, especially with the new addition of the roshambo competition. The roshambo competition is a series of rock-paper-scissors tournaments and the winner has to take all of the loser’s beads.
“Roshambo was a creative concept and it brought everyone from all different grades together. The pep rally was also very fun, especially the logrolling was really enjoyable to watch,” commented junior Tamandeep Kaur.
Apart from the major school events, many clubs or classes had tournaments and competitions that students enjoyed and won awards at.
“The Econ Challenge was truly an enlightening experience and I’m proud of my team for placing 3rd place in the National Economics Challenge,” said junior Andrew Keiner.
Teachers also play a huge role in affecting how a student’s school year will play out.
“Making coffee before first period every day at Mr. Khouri’s coffee bar was my favorite part of the mornings this year,” said junior Mei Greer.
However, for most juniors and seniors, prom night was the most memorable this school year. It was an opportunity to get dressed up and spend the night dancing and having fun with all their friends.
“I really liked getting dressed up with my friends and taking pictures. Dancing with them was really fun and so was After Prom. Overall it was a really enjoyable experience,” replied junior Allie Bonier.
Looking back at all these memories, students are reminded of everything they experienced and achieved this year. But looking forward to next year, students plan to build on from this year’s successes and address any areas of improvement for next school year to make their year easier.
“This year I wasn’t very good with my time management skills. I need to be better at it, especially since next year is my junior year so I can do all the clubs and activities I want to do while still getting my work done on time,” explained Akella.
Now as summer approaches, students are excited to finally relax after such a long school year but are still excited for everything that’s in store for them next year and making more valuable memories.
