Students at Marriotts Ridge High School tune in each morning for the morning announcements as a daily routine that informs students on anything from academic opportunities to upcoming athletic events. These announcements are used to highlight the results of sport’s games, honor student’s accomplishments and remind everyone of significant school events The MRHS morning announcements set the mood for an informed and productive day with a lively tone and interesting updates.
“I enjoy the morning announcements because then I know what opportunities and clubs I can attend. It is an easy way to become an active member around the school,” junior Sid Thomas states.
The morning announcements are more than just a morning routine for many students and are a starting point for engagement within the school community. These brief but informational updates give students crucial information about upcoming events, academic resources and extracurricular activities. Students are able to find new ways to get involved, such as volunteering for a school event, joining a club or going to a sporting event. The announcements encourage participation and a sense of connection, which makes it more simple for students to seize all available opportunities.
“I like how the new system only presents announcements on Fridays because then more information can be given since it is the end of the week,” sophomore Hansi Reddicherla remarks.
Many students agree that the morning announcements have improved as it has been switched to a once a week announcement schedule. A more thorough collection of significant news, including academic updates, event recaps and a look ahead to upcoming activities is made possible by the new Friday format. This new method also gives students more time to plan their involvement for the upcoming week while also keeping them informed and interested. The students have also shown to be more involved after the new production methods.
“I was able to take time and discuss new alternatives to the morning announcements with Mrs. Rashid and Dr. DiPaula to benefit the students and make a better use of their time and information,” media specialist Mrs. Mohr announces.
This new system benefits the students by spreading out information throughout the week and having shorter segments most days, while presenting a visual and longer segment on Fridays, therefore giving the students a better use of their time instead of watching announcements that may not be benefiting them everyday. Additionally, the organization of this system would allow certain students to process information thoroughly and evenly.
The staff at MRHS worked strategically to create an effective and efficient system for the morning announcements to convey their vital information, entertainment and events in an organized and balanced manner. More students at MRHS are beginning to show great reception to the announcements as the announcements become more accessible. Marriotts Ridge has found a way to make the student life more efficient and productive.
