Marriotts Ridge High School has announced a collaboration with Chick-Fil-A to open a restaurant on the school grounds, opening sometime in fall of the 2025-26 school year and will be the first of its kind to open in any K-12 school.
Chick-fil-A’s recent expansion program, Project Chicken, intends on opening 25 restaurants throughout various middle and high schools in the United States by the end of Q4 2025. Chick-fil-A has tested the waters before, such as when Urbana High School in Frederick started serving the chain’s food in their cafeteria during the 2018-19 school year. The experiment proved successful, but was shut down due to transportation costs and feathered fugitives.
Unlike that experiment, Marriotts Ridge’s restaurant will actually be on school grounds. This Chick Fil-A location will also be the first to be open on Sundays, despite all school offices being closed. Additionally, to commemorate the restaurant’s grand opening, five lucky students will receive a “golden ticket” through a lottery system, that being a voucher for a year’s supply of free food.
“In our opinion, a good education begins with a full stomach, and we can’t wait to help students in any way we can. Also, 50% of all proceeds from this program will go to the schools and local communities,” stated Chick-fil-A spokesman Benjamin Chicken in a recent press conference.
Without hesitation, students panicked after Chick-fil-A’s grand opening was revealed. While Chick-fil-A is not replacing school lunch flat out, many students are making the switch.
“I fell to my knees in excitement when the news broke. I couldn’t help but scream. It was like an angel casting its hand down from heaven. The school lunch is buns, so I needed this desperately,” sophomore Jesus Mirabel exclaimed.
Our pookie bear Jesus’s reaction echoes many among the student body, with an overwhelming sense of euphoria and thankfulness for the salvation the restaurant will bring. Chick-fil-A is so popular, some students are reshaping their entire lifestyle.
“I’m lowkey considering becoming a super senior so I can get free food all next year. It’s going to lowkey be hard to explain this to the college I committed to, but I’m sure they’ll understand, lowkey,” possible super senior Ragib Ahanaf said in a lowkey, mysterious and nonchalant way.
More than just the tail-end of students are chasing the chicken, students not even in high school yet want a piece!
“I’ve heard rumors that incoming freshmen going into other schools are trying to transfer here so they can get free food. It’s kind of insane. You go through all that trouble for some mediocre fried chicken?” voiced English teacher and “literally the GOAT” Mr. Sullivan.
Due to the crazy chicken hype craze spreading, much concern has been raised over whether or not MRHS is stable enough to support such a restaurant. The school is already crowded, especially during lunch, so opening a full-fledged and operational restaurant anywhere on school grounds might be dangerous.
“I think the demand is going to be too high. Both school administration and Chick-fil-A are underestimating the restaurant’s popularity here. Things could get hysteric, and perhaps even deadly,” stated local unemployed crawl space creature and super-duper senior Jacob Riggs.
The restaurant chain also mostly serves animal products, making it a no-go for many students with dietary restrictions.
“I wish they surveyed the student body about a decision like this before making it. I and many others here don’t eat animal products, so it’s a bummer seeing a restaurant like Chick-fil-A open here,” commented that one kid named Rectangle.
Whether you’re going to get a bite there or not, it’s undeniable that Chick-fil-A’s opening will give Marriotts Ridge yet another way to be one of a kind… at least until the 24 other restaurants open. Keep your eyes peeled for any construction on the school grounds!
